I think approximately every one in this world knows about Facebook and have their account created in it.

Daily every one in this world use Facebook to get connected with their friends,relatives and colleagues.
That's why it earned last year an amount of $315 million by it's advertising by the operators using Facebook from their phones.This lead Facebook an idea to launch it's own smart phone to ad some more revenue.
Hence Facebook is gonna launch it's own smart phone.

As per the recent news Facebook is working with HTC Corp on it's Smart Phone.This company was intended to launch it's smart phone at the end of the 2012 , but it gave more time to HTC Corp to develop it.Operating system:
Not only a smart phone but an operating system for it will be also designed for this smart phone.This newly modified operating system will be designed by a former team of Apple Inc.
AVAILABILITY:
It could be available in market in mid year of 2013.SCOPE OF REVENUE:
By introducing this new operating system with it's new OS Facebook can switch it's revenue to far more high. As it will facilitate them more to show their ads which will result to more big fat revenue.
By the way we will get a new OS with new apps in the market , maybe some more technologies will be introduced by this company.
So we can only hope and wait for it's coming to market as soon as possible.........................
